LOWER PRICES IN LONDON The butter market iu London was steadier at lower prices at the close of business last week, according to the weekly cabled report received by the New Zealand Dairy Produce Board. Wholesale quotations arc:— New Zealand, salted, 75s to 70s per cwt (which equals approximately 8.66 d per lb. f.0.b.), compand with 77s t? 78s last week; unsalted, 82s to 84s; Australian, salted, 71s to 725; Danish, spot, 86s (market liriner). Now Zealand butter is still selling retail at lOd per lb. The, cheese market is quiet, with New Zealand cheese still selling retail at Gd per lb. ’Wholesale prices are: —New Zealand, white 48s to 48s 6d per cwt. (which equals approximately 5.16 d per lb. f.0.b.), compared with 49s to 49s Cd last, week; coloured, 46s tn 46s (id (last week, Is dearer); Australian, coloured, 455; Canadian, w?.ito, 54s to 58s, and up to 60s; coloured, 54s to 565. The market for finest Eng. Jish farmers’ is steady at 88s to 89s. Imports of butter from the North era Hemisphere arc still running It? per cent, above last. year. The board has also received the foilowing cable from its agents in Canada:—Butter, Nev/ York, 21} cent? per lb.; Montreal, 19} cents. A. 11. Turnbull and Co., Ltd., hat? received the following cable from W. Wcddcl and Co.. Ltd., London, dated Juso 29:—“Butter market steadier, cheese market quiet. Butter, Danish, 86s per cwt.; New Zealand, finest, 743 to 765; Australian, finest. 60s (to 725. Cheese, New Zealand, white 475, 47s fid to 48s per cwt., coloured 45s io 46s Gd.” Australian Prices The Dairy Board has been advised by the Australian Board that tne minimum prices at which Australian butter may be sold during the coming week for forward shipments tho United Kingdom have been fixed at Bsd per lb. finest, and BLI first grade. These prices are the New Zealand f.o.b. equivalent of the Australian c.i.f.e. minimum prices fixedA. S. Paterson and Co.. Ltd., advise having received cable advice from J. and J. Lonsdale and Co. (London), Ltd., as follows:—Butter: Market steadier at reductions. New Zealand, 76s per cwt.; Australian, 725; Danish, G3s Lo.b.. R4s landed. Cheese: Market slow.
