SENATE AND PREMIER. A BILL REJECTED. OTTAWA, June 28. Mr. Meighan, Conservative leader in the Senate and former Premier, threw down a challenge to the Prime Minister (Mr. R. B. Bennett) to-day whoa the Senate refused to pass the House ol Commons amended Excise Bill, which permits automobiles used in smuggling, with or without the permission of the owner, to be confiscated. Mr. Bennett’s proposal of a two-Ohamber con ference was not accepted.
