LONGSHOREMEN STRIKE
MUCH SHIPPING HELD UP. MATSON LINE’S DECISION. SAN FRANCISCO, June 28. The cancellation of the sailing of the Makura on July 4 brings attention to the difficulties thrown upon transpacific shipping by the longshoremen’s strike. About two-thirds of the shipping of this port is tied up. The Matson Line is not attempting to dock its ships here, passengers to or from San Francisco being transported 400 miles to Los Angeles, via the Railway Union Line. Non-union strike breakers are unloading most of the cargo of the freighters which arc still berthing.
