HEAVY RAIN IN ENGLAND HEALTH MINISTRY’S WARNING [ British Official Wireless. ] Received June 27, 5.20 p.m. RUGBY, June 26. There were heavy falls of rain in southern England yesterday. Severe thunderstorms broke over London last night, and at Bexhill the fall was inches, representing about threequarters of its normal aggregate for the whole of June. The water supplies, however, are still causing anxiety in many parts and the difficult situation that will arise if the serious shortage of rain persists throughout the summer, is the subject of a further circular letter to local authorities by the Ministry of Health. They are urged to formulate ininiediatclv, plans for meeting any serious shortage in any part of their areas. The ciivular also urges vigilance on the part of medical officers to make sure of the purity of the proposed new emergency sources, and advises councils to press, forward schemes for perman en t supplies.
