Meteorological Office, Wellington, Tuesday, June 26, 4 p.m. General Situation. —A rather deep and vigorous depression is advancing across the Tasman. Pressure is still high to the north and east of the Dominion. Forecast. —Winds: Moderate to strong north-cast to northerly, reaching gale force in places, especially about and south of Cook Strait. Seas (New Zealand waters): Becoming rough south of Kawhia and Castlepoint, elsewhere moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea: Strong northerly winds to gales; rough seas. Weather: Cloudy to overcast, with heavy rain developing in western districts from Kawhia southwards and in the far south, elsewhere fair to cloudy at first. Almost general rain likely within the next 3G hours. Temperatures mild. The New Zealand Friends' School, St. John’s Hill, report for 24 hours ending 6 p.m. yesterday: Bright sunshine, 4 hours. Rainfall, a trace. Shade temperature: Maximum, 56 deg. Fahr.; minimum, 40 deg. Fahr. Phases of the Moon for June: Last quarter, June 6; new moon, June 13; first quarter, June 21; new moon, June 28.
