RACING IN FRANCE

GRAND PRIX DE PARIS. “OUB STEVE” RIDES THE WINNER. PARIS, June 24. Racing was continued at Longchamps to-day, when the crowd was well behaved, the services of extra police called in because of yesterday’s demonstration not being required. Following is the result of the principle event, the Grand Prix de Paris.—Admiral Drake (Steve Donoghue) 1, Foulsusin (Vatard) )2, Easton (Gordon Richards) 3. Seventeen started. Won by one and ahalf lengths, the same distance between second and third. The Daily Telegraph’s Paris corres pondent says that one of the greatest strokes of luck in his long career came to Steve Donoghue to-day. He flew to Paris on a “busman’s holiday” to see the Grand Prix de Paris run. He watched a couple of races from the stand, then the owner-trainer of Admiral Drake, who had planned for an apprentice to ride the colt, besought Donoghue to take the mount. Steve rode a splendid race, and won the greatest prize on the /mtinent on a horse that finished next to last in the English Derby.
