DONOVAN COMES BACK
BOXING AT NAPIER POINTS WIN OVER McKAY [ Per Tress Association. J HASTINGS, June 25. Displaying all the speed, aggressive ncss and elusivencss that characterised him in his heydey, Tommy Donovan (9.5), defeated Johnny McKay, of Gisborne (9.6), over fifteen rounds of two minutes each at Napier to-night. It was a points verdict. Generally, Donovan had t*ie best of the fight all the way through, but McKay did not for a moment allow the pace to slacken. It was a thrilling encounter w*th both men giving and taking a vast amount of punishment in frequent toe to-too exchanges. The earlier part of the bout was frequently interspersed with clinching and hold ing, for which both men were repeat edly warned, but in tho latter stage the pace and openness increased.
