BIG AFFORESTATION PLANS . -239,000 ACRES TO BE PLANTED. ( Per Press Association ). WELLINGTON, June 25. In a statement to-day the Commissioner of Forests (Hon. E. A. Ransom) said that arangements were now in hand for planting 239,000 acres with various exotic species of trees during the ensuing planting season. The operations will be confined prin cipally to the Kaingaroa State plantation. Rotorua” district, 20,000 acres; Golifen Downs, Nelson. 1550 acres; Tairua plantation, near Waihi, 750 acres. Probably 1000 men will be given employment. About 20,000,000 trees will bo used.
