BUTTER MARKET WEAKER. The butter market in London is slow according to the weekly report received i on Saturday by cable by the New Zealand Dairy Produce Board. Wholesale quotations are: New Zealand, salted. 77s to 78s per cwt., and up to 79s for extra fine quality (which equals approximately 9d per lb. f.0.b.), compared with 79s to 80s last week; uu salted, 80s to 84s; Australian, 73s to 745; Danish, spot, 80s. Retail prices are unchanged, with New Zealand butter selling at lOd per lb, and Danish at lid. The butter stock position is as follows: — June 22, June 22. 1934. 1933. Tons. Tons. New Zealand 12,198 10,767 Australian 9,470 5,050 Total .. .. 21,668 15,817. The cheese market is quiet, with New Zealand cheese still selling retail at 6d per lb. Wholesale quotations are: —New Zealand white, 49s to 49s 6d per cwt. (which equals approximately 5.3 d per lb., f.0.b.); coloured, 47s to 47s 6d; Canadian, wnite, 54s to 58s; coloured, 52s to 54s 6d. The New Zealand Producers’ Co-op-erative Marketing Association has today received cabled advice, dated London June 22, as follows:—Butter market quiet. New Zealand, 77s per cwt.; Danish, 86s. New Zealand cheese market also quiet. White, 48s 6d to 495; coloured, 46s 6d to 475. Joseph Nathan and Company, Ltd., have received from Trcngrounse and Nathan, Ltd., London, the following cabled advice, dated June 22: —New Zealand butter, 77s per cwt. New Zealand cheese, white 48s 6d, coloured 475. Both markets very quiet. Australian Prices. The Dairy Board has been advised by the Australian Board that the minimum prices at which New Zealand butter may be sold for forward shipment to the United Kingdom during the coming week have been fixed at 9|d and and 9d per lb., the same as last
