MATERNITY HOSPITAL

DUNEDIN MEDICAL SCHOOL GRANT OF £6OOO MADE [ Per Press Association. ] DUNEDIN, May 8. At a meeting of trustees of the Dun« edin Savings Bank this afternoon, it was decided to make a grant of £6OOO to the Otago Hospital Board as a contribution to the cost of building a new maternity hospital in connection with the medical school, the grant being provisional on acceptance by the Government of the proposals which have been placed before it by the hospital board. Nine grants of smaller amounts were also decided upon at the meeting, the largest of these being £3OO to the Salvation Army. The following is a list of the grants: Otago Hospital Board —£6000. Salvation Army —£300. Y.M.C.A.—£ISO. Y.W.C.A.—£ISO. St. Kilda Beach Improvement Society —£lso. Children’s Rest Horne—£so. St. John Ambulance Association—£so. Society for the Protection of Women and Children. —£50. Early Settlers’ Association —£50. Citizens’ Day Nurseries —£50. Total—£7ooo. All the grants arc subject to the ap proval of the Minister of Finance, Hon J. G. Coates.
