A large and fashionable gathering thronged the salons of Burlington House when the summer exhibition of the Royal Academy was opened to the private view of invited guests. It is the general opinion of the art critics that in regard to craftsmanship, especially in the water colour and graphic art sections, the works exhibited are of great excellence. tn the architectural section an exceptionally interesting exhibition is provided by drawings of the new London Uni varsity buildings by Charles Holden which when completed will be the largest work of architc'-t urc in London.
