RETURN OF LARWOOD FOOT TROUBLE DISAPPEARS, ENGLAND'S FAST BOWLER. LONDON, May 6 Larwood made his first bowling appearance at Trent Bridge against Somerset. He and Voce dismissed half the Somerset team for twelve runs. Larwood demonstrated that his foot trouble has completely disappeared. He took four for 31, and Voce three for 39. Critics hold divided opinions about Larwood. Quite a number contend that he has not the old pace, though his action is faultless. Reynolds’ News .states: The wicket was all against him. He took the usual nineteen paces’ run. His terrific follow through, which throws all the weight on his damaged left foot, was in full use. He had not the old pace because he needs time to get right back to form. Likewise he wants a firmer foothold, yet at times he was unplayable, a good lee ball whipping back like lightning and would take any batsman’s wicket. The People says: It was the old Larwood. Cricket enthusiasts all over the country will share the feeling of relief that, swept Trent Bridge . At Leicester, Chipperfield is still confined to his room and now will not be available to nlay against Cambridge.
