Signal, Grace, Mullin, O’Brien Reserve: M. Cockburn. WOMEN’S INSTITUTE. rhe ordinary monthly meeting of the Sanson branch was held on I’ucsdav night. Mrs. A. K. Drew presided over a good attendance. Correspondence regarding the formation of the Northern Wellington Federation was read and considered Mesdames J. Bowater and F. Tostevin were appointed delegates to attend a meeting. Alesdames W. E. Pearce. F. Bradley, Misses E. Galbally and 'A. Bowater were elected Sunshine Committee for the month. A competition arranged by Mrs. C. Masters was won by Mrs. 1! Grace. At a convenient interval Mrs A. K, Drew on behalf of members asked Miss A. E. Fagan to accept the parcels that had been brought and expressed the hope that the contents would be found useful in her future home. The gifts carried with them the good wishes of members and assured Miss Fagan that her four years of office as secretary was much appreciated. Miss Fagan thanked the members for their gifts and expressed regret at severing her connection with the institute, but hoped to visit them on some future occasion. During supper an interesting roundtable talk brought forth many useful suggestions for the benefit of the institute. Mrs. Drew and Mrs. Francis gave an interesting demonstration on glove

making. A competition for the best vase of chrysanthemums was won by Mrs. W. E. Pearce. Miss McFarlane was second.
