RUGBY FOOTBALL WAIKOA SUB-UNION Ngutuwcra 6, Ngamatapouri 3. Rangiatau 16, Kai Iwi 3. Waverley 12, Waitotara 12. The Ngutuwcra team journeyed to Ngamatapouri, a distance of 29 miles, and were greeted by quite a large crowd of spectators when taking the field. The match was one of the best, games ever witnessed on the Ngamiorc the wing, scored a brilliant try and Lloyd Stewart kicked a penalty goal for Ngutuwera. Boswcil scoring an excellent try for Ngamatapouri, made the final score: Ngutuwera 6, Ng.imatapouri 3* The Waverley team entertained VVaitotara on the Domain. On starting the game the Waverley backs assumed the attack and a try was scored by M. Dickie and converted by Dallison. Shortly afterwards M. Dickie retired owing to injury Hartley replacing him. The following players took the eya of the spectators: Loader, M. Dickie, Dallison, Neal, Ell, Mitchell and Magan for Waverley and Zimmerman, Gray, Beath, Butterworth and the Maori full-back, who played an excellent game for Waitotara. Junior Rugby Waverley v. Waitotara: The ground of the Domain was very hard when players of the two junior teams took the field. Waverley having won the toss, commenced play with the wind in their favour and after 20 minutes’ play G. .Spratt scored, Waverley 3, Waitotara nil. Shortly afterwards Butterworth scored for Waitotara, making the score 3 all. After changing ends the play was very even and good to watch and it was only in the last 5 minutes that L. Walker gathered in the ball in his own twenty-five, outstripping the opposition to score in the corner. The whistle sounded soon after, leaving Waverley victorious 6 to 3.
