NGAMATEA INSTITUTE
The Ngamatea Institute held its April meeting in the hall. Mrs. Ferry presiding over a fair attendance and one new member being elected. After singing the “Ode to Friendship,” a lengthy business agenda was ealt with. It was decided to have a “ bring-and-buy ” stall at all the monthly meetings, tho totals proceeds from the May meeting to go to institute funds. It was also arranged to hold a dance on April 14. The roll call, a Scotch story, caused much laughter. A demonstration of scagrass stool making was given by Airs. G. Greaves. The winners cf the competition for “Best Meat Pic” were Mrs. Geoff. Greaves 1. Mrs. Geo. Powell 2, Mrs. Chittock 3. Judging was done by Mrs. Fred Greaves and Airs. Goodare. After afternoon tea was served by Mrs. Powell and Airs. Pertam, there was a nail-driving competition. For the May mooting the roll call will be “My Favourite Way of Travelling.” Demonstration: Pine needle baskets. Competition: Something new from something old. A very happy meeting concluded with singing the National Anthem.
