DISARMAMENT
NATURE OF FRENCH REPLY OUTLOOK MORE HOPEFUL. [ British Official Wireless. ] RUGBY, April 7. The French reply to the latest British inquiries ou disarmament has been received by the Foreign Office, it is understood that it is a brief document coutaning no definite proposals, per d ing fuller consideration by the French Government of the question of guarantees. It is stated by Paris correspua dents that the result of this further examination will form the subject of a later communication. Meanwhile, further and more precise information is sought regarding the British proposals. The Times’ Paris corrcspondcLt says that this should be regarded as a sign that the French Government is now prepared to face the momentous decision that must profoundly influem e , international relations. The correspondent adds: "Viewed in this light the reply promises rial progress towards the achievement of a disarmament convention. The French Note has been subjected to a preliminary examination by Sir John Simon and advisers at the Foreign Office.
