AERO CLUB TROPHY
KENRICK CHRISTIE CUP. CONDITIONS CONFIRMED. Dr. Kcnrick Christie, of Wanganui, has donated a cup for competition at the week-end rally to bo hold at the Wanganui Airport on Saturday, April 21. At the meeting of the club, held last night, Dr. Christie said that in view of the recent air accidents in New Zealand, he had decided to donate a cup to impress upon pilots certain fundamental flying principles, the neglect of which accounted for the majority of accidents to date. He would have liked to have included blind flying in the competition, but the country did not lend itself suitable to it. The area was too small and an instrument accurate enough to enable pilots to fly blind into ’dromes had not yet been perfected. Conditions covering the cup are as follows: Pilot to fly on a specified course, height not less than 1000 feet; speed not less than 75 m.p.h.; engine revs, not more than 1750 p.m. and during the flight to set compass showing time wind direction; to approach ’droino, and at a given ground signal, to throttle off and make a forced landing over a temporary fence; the competition to be open to A and B, club and federation pilots.
