aS. PROGRESS OF LITIGATION. SYDNEY, April 5. The High Court has granted Mr. .T. T. Lang leave t 0 appeal against the judgment of the Full Court in the Willis case. The Full Court, by a majority, granted the application of Mr. A. C. Willis for a new trial for his action for defamation against the former Premier, Mr. J. T. Lang, heard last September, when a jury returned a verdict in favour of Mr. Lang, against whom £20.000 damages was claimed. Mr. Willis, former Agent-Geneva' in London for New Sputh Wales brought an action for slander, claiming £20,000 damages from Mr. Lang. The suit arose from the Biilli by-election. The plaintiff alleged that Mr. Lang ad dressed public meetings at which he inferred that Mr. Willis was under the domination and influence of political opponents of the Labour movement which seriously prejudiced his candidature as a Labourite; also that an attempt was made to hound him out of public life
