WANGANUI CLUB FIRST MEDAL MATCH. ONE TREE HILL CUP. The first medal match in which the scores will count for the Eclectic and points competition under the AVanganui Golf Club will be played at the Belmont links to day. Ono Tree Hill Cup. The committee have decided that the handsome cup, to be called the “One Tree Hill” Cup, which was given by Air. J. S. Harrison, is to be allocated for the points competition. Six, four and two points in the A and B grade respectively are given to the first, second and third places in each official medal and bogey match. The player with the highest points holds the One Tree Hill Cup for ono year. This competition is no runaway one, but everyone has a chance and the issue is in doubt right up to tho last match. Last year at least twenty were in the running with two matches to go and five or six before tho last match was played. Imlay Cup. This year it has been decided to draw all members in the Imlay Cup competition, with the exception of those who particularly do not wish to play. Those members who do not wish to play are requested to ring the secretary or put their names on the list at the clubhouse before nevt Wednesday when the draw will be made. Fixtures at Belmont. Owing to tho fact that finality has not yet been reached with regard to tho date of tho Now Zealand championships, to be held this year at the Belmont links, tho committee of the AVanganui Golf Club have found it impossible to complete tho list of fixtures for tho season. This month’s matches, however, will bo as follow: To-day.—Medal match. Aprii 14.—Bogey match; first round Imlay Cup. April 21.—Bogey match, president v. captain. April 28.—Wanganui v. Seaficld, seniors at Belmont, juniors at Seafield. ENGLISH PROFESSIONALS BRILLIANCE OF KING INDIFFERENT PUTTING. Received April 6. 10.5 p.m. LONDON, April 6. On the occasion of the opening of tho professional season the newspapers empnasiso tho brilliance of King, who is the 22-ycar-old champion assistant of 1933 and a potentially fine golfer. Ho led the field of 74 professionals with two rounds of 68, a record for the altered course, and might have done better jn both rounds. He had a score of 29 for nine holes in tho first round when ho broke down and had 26 for eight holes in tho second round. Unfortunately, ho has little desire for golfing honours. Tho failure of tho majority of the players to qualify was duo to bad putting.
