GRETA GARBO MYSTERY
SUGGESTION OF MARRIAGE. FILM STAR AND DIRECTOR. Miss Greta Garbo and her film director, Mr. Rouben Manioulian, were married on January 15, according to two men who state that they acted as witnesses at the ceremony. They arc Mr. Wilbur Wilson, manager of an oil company at Fresno, California, and his friend, Mr. Russell Griffen. They state that while on holiday at the Grand Canyon they met Miss Garbo and ftp. Manioulian and became on friendly terms with them. A few days later they met again at Williams, Arizona. Mr. Manioulian thereupon invited them to be witnesses at his wedding at a local Presbyterian church. Mr. Griffen said he was best man, and handed to Mr. Manioulian the ring he placed on Miss Greta Garbo’s finger. They had been sworn to silence, he added, but Mr. Wilson inadvertently revealed the facts at a card party. Miss Greta Garbo could not be induced to make any statement. It is recalled that they hurried home from their Grand Canyon trip when they heard rumours being circulated that they had eloped.
