PRESENTATION AND FAREWELL There was an attendance of about 200 persons in -Mr. S. Johnson’s wuoished at Mangatiti to bid farewell ro Mr. and Mrs. Brimicombe, who arc leaving the district. Mr. B. Hynes expressed the regret of the resident* at the departure of their guests who had made themselves most popular by their hospitality. To Mrs. Brimicombe no handed a toilet set and a gent’s dressing set to her husband. Mr. A. Hadley spoke on behalf of the settlers and Mr. B. Cox on behalf of the P.W.D. workers in the 1 ovality. , Mr. Brimicombe returned thanks. Items were given by Messrs. S. Wright, F. .Stafford, F. Hatden, F. McLayden, W. Dally, -Miss Plumridge, Masters Dally and P. Bradley. The Monte Carlo dance was won by Miss B Sully and Mr. J. Dow and the spot waltz by Miss Ida Plumridge and Mr. Carter, 'rhe music was supplied by Mr. W. Dally (piano) and Mr. Awburn (accordeon) extras being played by Mrs. Low and Mr. D. Millbank. Messrs. B. Cox and C. Shaw ably carried out the duties of M.C. BIRTHDAY PARTY. About 30 young people gathered at the residence of Mr. A. Paulger on Wednesday night on the occasion of the ‘coming of age of his daughter Jeanne. Mrs. Bradbury was hostess and a very enjoyable time was spent with games, competitions, dancing and music. During the evening Mr. Paulger handed his daughter the time-honoured large gilt key. He also presented her with an envelope containing a golden sovereign, which had been bequeathed to her by her grandmother. Miss Paulger was the recipient of a large number of useful and ornamental gifts and a sheaf of telegrams conveying the good wishes of friends and relations. Mr. F. Gibbons returned thanks on behalf of Miss Paulger. A very enjoyable gathering was brought to a close in the early hours of the morning by the singing of “For She’s a Jolly Good Fellow” and “Auld Lang Syne.” GENERAL. The annual meeting of the Waimarino branch of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union will be held at Raetihi on the 28th instant. It is expected that several Wanganui provincial officers will be present, including the president of the district, Mr. T. Currie. Although the season has not yet been officially declared open some of the members of the Golf Club have been seen out on the links. The cream lorry is now running regularly from Jerusalem to Jhe Raetihi Dairy Company ’s factory*
