[ Mr. Stanley Baldwin, writing to the > Worcestershire Farmers’ Union, admits , that beef prices remain unsatisfactory, but he claims ‘hat within the limits nf ntornational and inter-Iniperial obligations the Government has taken more drastic steps to reduce import? than anyone would have thought possible eighteen months ago. These steps prevented a more catastrophic fall of prices. “It should be borne in mind that an entirely new factor will operate in June, when the Gitawa meat agreements with the Dominions end,” he -aid. The chairman complained that the only result of cutting South American imports had been to encourage Canadian and New Zealand producers to flood the market.
