RETURNED SOLDIERS’ ASSOCIATION The annual meeting of the Hunterville district committee of tho Returned Soldiers’ Association is to take place in the board room of the Town Hall, Hunterville, on Thursday, April 12, at 7.30 o’clock. The annual report and balance-sheet are to be considered and officers elected for the •coming year. It is hoped that a full muster of members will be present. HUNTERVILLE TOWN BOARD ORDINARY MEETING The ordinary monthly meeting of Hunterville Town Board was held on Wednesday night, Ur. B. A. Gordon presiding: Also present: Crs. R. K. Simpson, J. W. Clarke, C. Stratford, H. Dillon. The balance-sheet for 1932-33 was received from the Audit Department without any tags, all being iu order. A list of the outstanding rates and the names of defaulting ratepayers was read to the board. The clerk reported that the highways engineer had stated that it was too late to seal Ongo road this summer, but the work could be put iu the estimates for this year. Air. J. B. AlcKnight wrote stating that an offer of a steam heating plant for the hall had been made at a cost of £52, plus £3 each for extra radiators. The plant was complete with boiler and piping and four theatresize radiators. It was a second-hand plant. It was decided to seek further knowledge and discuss the question at a special meeting to be held shortly to adopt the balance-sheet.
It was decided that the clerk take action to recover all outstanding rates. It was resolved that the hall charges be printed and posted up in the hall, no alteration to be made and the charges to bo strictly adhered to. Accounts amounting to £3ll 17s Id were passed for payment.
At Alarch 31 the credit balance at the bank was £2O, with £2l in. hand. There was a total sum of £BO9 16s 3d in overdue rates due to the board, so tho financial position so far as the board is concerned was considered very satisfactory, although the amount of rates outstanding was considered far too high and immediate action is to be taken to recover tho amounts.
The foreman’s report covering routine work for the month was read. The chairman said he had arranged for the free use of a plant for repairing the footpaths. It was decided to hold a special meeting of tho board at a date to be arranged to adopt the balance-sheet and consider the heating of the hall, the present electric heaters not being satisfactory.
