STRUCK BY A PLANK. [ Per Press Association. ] HOKITIKA, April 5. While engaged in working in a 40foot shaft nine miles below Haast yesterday afternoon, a plank being lowered slipped and struck a man named Saunders on tho nose, almost severing it, and inflicting arm and body injuries. The patient was brought to Hokitika by aeroplane this morning. His injuries are serious, but not dangerous. He is a married man, aged 40
