LIQUOR AFTER HOURS

LICENSEE CONVICTED I Per rres» Association. J CHRISTCHURCH, April 5. Vincent Stewart Goulding, licensee of the Forester’s Hotel, was lined £3 this morning for selling liquor after hours. He was convicted and discharged on charges of opening the premises for sale after hours. Counsel for defendant said that a temporary transfer of the license had been arranged and a manager installed. The magistrate, Mr. Mosley: “I understand that Goulding paid a bi" price for the house.” Counsel: ‘‘The results of the case have been disastrous to Goulding. He is absolutely ruined.” The magistrate said that as the tiansfer had been granted he would not endorse the license. At the previous hearing it was stated that Goulding had had three previous convictions for the sale of liquor after hours, two in the past year.
