TO-DAY'S RUGBY

SEVERAL ALL BLACKS TO PLAY VISIT OF HUTT FIFTEEN SEVERAL TIN HARE RACE EVENTS A great deal of interest will be taken in tho big Rugby match to-day on Spriggens Park between a strong Hutt fit teen and a side selected from Wanganui Metropolitan Union, iiiclud mg the newly-annexed Waverley seniors. Hutt will be fielding an All Black inside combination in the shape of Lilburn and Killeen. Feeney, who is to replace Neal, is considered one of the coming inside players of tho day. Lilburn and Killeen are both well known. Lilburn is a strong type of player, perhaps more of the defensive than the attacking sort. He is a great leader and certainly one of the brainiest five-eighths playing in New Zealand to-day. Killeen is said to be the only player on the horizon at present who is bidding for Cooke’s great place. Killeen came into prominence very quickly last year, and played as second five-eighths in the inter-island match at Wellington. His form thoroughly justified his inclusion and the try he scored was one of the gems «»f the match. Gibson Not Available Gibson, the Wanganui and Old Boys’ centre-three-quarter, injured an ankle at Now Plymouth on Saturday playing against New Plymouth Old Boys, and, in consequence, will not be available for to-day’s match. He will be replaced by O’Keeffe. It is likely that Gibson will not bo able to turn out for his club for several weeks. To give variety and add a thrill to the programme, the Metropolitan Rugby Union, by arrangement with Mr. J. Hannan, of Waagaehu, has arranged a scries of tin hare coursing events. There are still hundreds of people who have not responded to the thrill this type of sport can give, and they would be foolish to miss today’s golden opportunity. The enclosure at Spriggons Park will be very suitable for the tin hare plant and a very exciting afternoon’s sport is likely. Tho Wanganui Kennel Club, is cooperating with the union in this afternoon’s gramme, and there is to be a parade of dogs of all classes. In fact, this will be an annual show of various breeds and prizes are to be awarded. Mr. W. Thompson is to judge the Alsatians and Mr. F. Pepper the other breeds. Quite a novel and spectacular event will be the parade of show canines. In keeping with the experience of the Wanganui Carnival Executive, the Rugby Union has fixed the price of admission at sixpence. Provision of a really fine programme for so low a charge will be an inducement to a largo crowd to attend. Tho Rugby teams will take the field as under:— Hutt Jarman Nees Killeen Hansen Lilburn (capt.) Feeney Spencer Forwards: Shepherd. Dalton. Peck, Roberts, Saulsbrey, Coulton, S. Neal and Stevenson.
