SALE OF ULIMAROA
BOUGHT BY JAPANESE LONG TASMAN SEA SERVICE The Huddart-Parker steamer Ulimaroa has been sold to Japanese buyers. The fate of the vessel is of consider able interest to New Zealand people because she was for many years in the intercolonial passenger trade, and she made over 400 trips to New Zealand, in addition to travelling thousands of miles on the New Zealand coast be tween Auckland and Dunedin. Tho Ulimaroa, a vessel of 5828 tons, was built at Dundee in 1908 and was designed for the intercolonial service, where she continued for 24 years, ex cept for a period during the war when she served as a troopship. In April, 1932, she was withdrawn from the intercolonial service, being relieved by the Zealandia, which was afterward replaced by the motor-shij WanganeJla. Tho Ulimaroa was then laid up at Sydney for overhaul and refit and was later placed in the SydneyHobart trade
