COLLEGIATE SCHOOL

OLD BOYS’ REUNION BIG- PROGRAMME TO-DAY The activities in connection with the reunion of the old boys of the Wanganui Collegiate School commenced on Saturday, when tennia matches, a cricket match and a rowing race were held. Enjoyable games of tennis were played, and interesting cricket was watched, an old boys’ eleven winning fairly comfortably from school. In the rowing race, a crew of old boys resident in Wanganui defeated a crew of visiting old . boys by som o three lengths. Eightoar boats were used, and Somme Parade from the Dublin Street Bridge to Dallas’ wharf was lined with onlook crs. Yesterday a Holy Communion service was conducted in the chapel, followed later by the morning service. The old boys’ service was held in the evening, after which the headmaster, Mr. J. Allen, and Mrs. Allen were “at home” to all old boys. The majority of the interest in the reunion will centre round to-day’s activities, which begin shortly after 9 o’clock and will be continued until the small hours of to-morrow morning are reached. The relay race between the school and old boys will be held at 9.15 a.m., followed by the tug-of-war and the old boys’ race. Later there will be the swimming relay and the tennis matches will begin. At 10.45 o’clock the rowing race, the school v. old boys, is scheduled to start. The annual meeting of the old boys takes place at 11.30 o’clock in the school library. The event of the afternoon will be the football match, in which school meet old boys, the game starting at 2.30 o’clock. After the match, Mr. and Mrs. Allen will be “at home’’ to old boys and their friends. At 5 o’clock the branch delegates’ meeting takes place in Foster’s Hotel. At 8.30 p.m. the old boys’ ball begins. The reunion of the old boys is always looked forward to and enjoyed, largo numbers of people visiting the city to participate in the time-hon-oured custom. The perfect weather that prevailed at the end of last week provided the best of conditions, and it is hoped that they will continue to-day.
