CABBAGES FOR WINTER
Supplies of cabbages for winter and spring can usually be secured by selecting suitable varieties and by sowing it suitable times. For sowing in late summer use those that can bo depended upon to form hearts with little or no Bolting, that is, without running up to flower. The earliest cabbage should be sown during the third or fourth week of January in the open air and planted out as soon as large enough. If the autumn is mild, very substantial progress will be made before May. A imall cabbage can be put out loin. Between the rows. By early sowing cutting can be commenced quite early in July.
