THE DISPUTE IN PRUSSIA VICTORY FOR GOVERNMENT (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) Received Jan. 29, 9.5 p.m. LONDON, Jan. 28. The entire property and funds ol the People’s Union for Catholic Germany at Munchcn Gladbach have been confiscated by the Prussian State. This is the final blow to the world’s strongest Catholic organisation. The Daily Telegraph’s Berlin correspondent says that Herr Alueller has completely crushed the opposition. He has promulgated a decree making himself dictator to whom the heads of the other churches have capitulated. An important factor has been the telephone tapping activities of General Goering’s secret police. The conversations of opposition pastors have been tapped, and phrases culled interpreted as showing disloyalty to Hitler. The mass of the laity are in ignorance of the situation, as no papers are allowed to publish anything except Herr Mueller's statements. Protests from pulpits and meetings are also forbidden. AUSTRIAN HEIMWEHR A PEACE WITH HITLER. LEADER STATES TERMS. Received Jan. 29, 11.55 p.m. VIENNA, Jan. 29. Prince Starhcmbcrg, addressing the Hcimwehr commanders, outlined the conditions on which the conflict between Austria and Germany could be ended. He said that Herr Hitler must give written declaration recognising Austria’s sovereign independence. Secondly, it must be recognised that Fascism in Austria is represented by the Hcimwehr, and consequently a Nazi party in Austria is superfluous. Thirdly, Herr Hitler must give a written guarantee never to attempt to place nonAustrian Germans in leadership. “If Herr Hitler agrees, I am prepared to state the form in which Austria could support German foreign policy,” the Prince added. “We will back Dr. Dollfuss in a Fascist reconstruction of Austria.” EX-KAISER’S BIRTHDAY FRIENDS ENTERTAINED. LONDON, Jan. 28. The cx-Kaser at Doorn entertained friends at dinner on his birthday, but omitted the former entertainments, it is suggested, for financial reasons. He received no message from the Nazis, between whom and the Monarchists in Germany there is now some tension.
