CRIMINALS EXTERMINATED DESPERATE CHICAGO GANG (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) Received Dec. 22, 9.55 p.m. CHICAGO, Dec. 22. In a desperate gun battle to-night, tho police killed three leaders of a gang of escaped Indiana convicts responsible for many recent crimes here, including the murder of a policeman. After locating the criminals’ hideout, Detoctivc-Oaptain John Stage surrounded the apartment building with 20 heavily-armed men. At a signal they crashed into the building and were met by a birst of shotgun fire. The lights were immediately extinguished. For over a minutes the police continued firing blindly. The criminals returned the fire until they were killed.
