ROD AND GUN CLUB. The committee of the Lower Rang!* tikei Rod and Gun Club met in Bulls (in Thursday. Present were: Messrs. J. ' s.mp.MHi, G. 1). Flower, P. H. Whisker, H. Last-H&rris and H. A. Goodall (chairman). Leave of absence was granted to W. J. Guy and J. C. Ham mond. Rules were drawn up and will be I submitted to a special general meeting of the club on January 18, 1934. Messrs. Guy Simpson and I*. 11. Whisker reported that owing to the diy season on the advice of Mr. T. Andrews, ranger, it was decided Fo liberate the trout held iu the pond, some 2300 from two inches to five and a-balf inches long (the majority three inches and over) being placed in the Kangii.kei. Deaths in the pnud amounted to 170, and the fish liberated were very healthy and well grown. It the season had been a normal one the li.-h could haw been carried over unli; March. Much piaisv is due u> Messrs. Simpson and Whisker, who voluntarily made the pond (under supervision of Ranger Andrews), and wu« have cared for the fish since the beginning of October. Mr. Last-Harris reported that he has rearml :i few weeks old eleven chicks from three pheasants, and has another two hens sitting on pheasant eggs. The pheasants are still laying, but unfortunately the cock bird has only mated with one hen. Mr. LastHarris rein * ed the thanks of the club tor his sc mposed task.
