FURTHER SUCCESS REPORTED HIGH PRAISE FROM AMERICA “The Private Life of Henry VIII.’ 1 is proving one of the greatest box-office successes in London’s film industry. There have been long queues at the Leicester Square Theatre, even for the first of the five daily showings, and the takings are said to average over £lOOO a day—easily a record for the theatre. In addition, a library deal has been concluded involving some £lO,OOO. Meanwhile Now York reports indicate that “Henry VIII.” secmi destined to prove not only the most successful British picture ever sent across the Atlantic, but one of the outstanding successes of the year. Opening at the gigantic Radio City Music Hall, it is said to have broken the records for a week’s takings established by “Cavalcade” (103,000 dollars) and "Morning Glory.’ ’ “'The business this film will do.” comments Variety, the loading American theatrical weekly, “should convince England’s flicker producers that their contention of prejudice on this side has always boon a fallacy, the groundwork for this change in attitude, perhaps, having been laid by ’Rome Express. ’ ” "It. is a film,” concludes Variety, “of which any country could well boast. Coming from England, it is magnificent.’ ’ “Moulin Rouge” is to be a lavish musical comedy extravaganza told against a background of Vienna, Paris and New York. Constance Bennett is the principal star and .she will sing and dunce for the first time in pictures. “Moulin Rouge” is to be released by United Artists and produced bv 20tb Century Pictures, Ltd.
