THE CHRISTMAS CARNIVAL. The carnival will be continued to« day. the attractions being a baby show, children’s fancy dress parade, and children’s sports on tho Domain in tho evening. On Tuesday evening a number of “Treasure Hunts” wore organised, and young and old entered into the fun with zest, tho lucky ones gaining prizes. I SCHOOLS BREAK UP Yesterday afternoon schools of tho district closed lor the annual summer ' acaiion. At Bulls School folk dancing and games wore played, and certificates presented to pupils who had gained proficiency and competency at tho recent examinations. Orders were also presented to successful competitors in the calf-rearing competition, the three top prizes being won at Bulls School. The headmaster (Mr. \V. A. Churchill) and membt rs of the school committee donated a trophy to Mr. P. Thorby, and thanked him for acting as ’lonorary instructor to the woodwork classes at tho school. The school picnic will be held early in the new year. CLYDESDALE SCHOOL. I The official lists of results of school examinations omitted those certificates gained by pupils of Clydesdale School 1 Miss Flavell, head teacher). Lorna Kansoni and Frank Luxford gained proficiency certificates, and Kathleen Maxwell competency. WOMEN’S INSTITUTE Members of the Bulls Women’s Institute will give the children a picnic early in February. On Saturday last a Santa Claus function was provided in tho Oddfellows* Hall, at which there was a large attendance of kiddies, each receiving a Christmas gift and sweets.
