The totalisator handled £14,217 10s, compared with £10,027 10s last year. Results were:— PERONGIA HURDLES 1 (Of £100; 1| miles.) 4 1/2—Tudor, 9.10, C. Thomson .. ..’ 1 L 3/4 —Welcome Boy, 10.9 2 . 2/3 —Mia Stella, 10.1 3 Scratched: Thespis, Tatyoon, Wiltshire, Valpai, Book Law, Cawan, Tondaleyo. Moving away first Clan Ronald " piloted the field over the first hurdle, with Norval Tea and Home Light next passing the stand. Approaching the back, Clan Ronald and Tudor were on even terms, five lengths ahead, being * the pacemakers along the back. At the home turn Tudor, Welcome Boy and Mia Stella had command, maintaining the positions to the post. Two and a-half lengths; four lengths. Time, 2.44 " 3-5. King’s Knave was slightly turned at the start and got away badly. C Passing the stand the order was Mun- t gatoon, Trishna, King March, Master 8 Norval, Alloy, King’s Knave and Red S Sun. Trishna and Mungatoon were on n equal terms along, the back and they t piloted the field to the home turn, f where they parted and a great run home ended with the three placed horses in line, Mungatoon winning by a long neck, with King’s Knave a neck away, and Alloy, Red Sun, Master Nor- “ val and Trishna close up. All started. Lucidus and Rercatu moved quickest and the last-named came to the front along the back but Star Artist was in command after a few furlongs and was never headed. Into the straight Star Artist was just clear but in the final run drew away to win comfortably by four lengths, with the other placed horses fighting out a . close finish, Lucidus being a neck ahead of the third horses, which the judge , was unable to separate. Time, 1.27 1-5. PATERANGI HANDICAP (Of £9O; one mile.) 2/3—King’s Archer, 9.6, L. Dulieu . 1 1/1 —Thespis, 8.9 2 6/6 —Cruachan, 8.9 3 Scratched: Prolyxo and Beryl Latour. The first out was King’s Archer, but on settling down Haviland assumed command, leading the field along the back. Entering the straight the order was Haviland, King’s Archer, Cruachan, Searcher and Thespis. In the run home King’s Archer moved up to win by half a length from Thespis, with Cruachan one and, a-half lengths away and King Win fourth. Time, 1.42 1-5. FLYING HANDICAP (Of £120; six furlongs.) 4/2—JONATHAN, 7.12 1 7/9—IMPASTO, 8.8 2 2/3—TRADESMAN, 8.13 3 Scratched: Master Norval, Lucidus, Limex and Chief Cook. The first to move on settling down were Impasto, British Columbia and Jonathan, who led along the back. Bambury was mov--0 ing up as they approached the home » turn, where the order was Impasto, " Jonathan, Tradesman, Marechai and ■, Bambury. In the final run Jonathan won by three-quarters of a length from J Impasto, who beat Tradesman by one and a-half lengths. Sandy Dix moved off, Arch Ruler and Solarium taking command when they settled down and piloting to the home turn. In the run home Loombination moved up from fifth position, finishing very fast to win by a head, with D’Artagnan a length away.
