STATE OF EMERGENCY

REVOLT FEARED IN SPAIN. Received Dec. 4, 9.20 p.m. Al ADR ID, Dec. 4. A state of emergency has been declared throughout Spain in view of rumours that the Republicans arc planning an insurrcctiton in order to present the Cortes meeting on December 8. The turbulent election seems to have strengthened the Conservatives, who, it is believed, contemplate the repeal of many of the Republican confiscatory and anti-clerical laws. Crowds badly treated many nuns as they voted. The police •ave deposited all gunsmiths’ stock and artillery in barracks, apparently to control the situation.
