BOWLING Fine, sunn-, weather prevailed during the week-end, inducing a large number of bowling, tenuis and croquet players to follow their respective sports. Four rinks of bowlers onjoyed games on tho bowling green, the results of which were:—Messrs E. Farrow, snr., J. Pritvhard, and D. Barrell 30 v. Vf. Watson, F. and J. Johnsen 20. Messrs J. Cherry, T. Kirkley, and i'. Jarrett 25 v. E. Paton, T. Stroud, and E. Farrow, jnr. 40. The following members will visit Huntervillo on Wednesday afternoon next: Alcssrs E. Farrow, E. I’aton, T. Stroud, F. Thompson, D. Barrell, R. J. Bunker, W. Watson, T. Kirkby. RIFLE SHOOTING The third shoot for the silver challenge cup was held by the Alangaweka Defence Rifle Club on their range at Kawhatau during the week-end. Ideal weather prevailed and a fair number of riflemen were present. Tho results of the shoot, the ranges being 500 and 600 yards, with total, were as follow: A. T. Dickson 33, 31—64; W. A. Hamilton 33. 30—63; L. Ahihoney 31, 29—60; C. Oulsnam 33, 32—65; H. ATatson 31, 22 —53; H. Nash 29, 28 — 57; B. A. Bailey 33, 30—63; M. Green 32, 31—63; ll.' G. Bailey 30, 30—60; F. P. Dickson 26, 32—58; R. Johnston 29, 26—55; D. ATatson 33, 30—63; L. Bland 32, 32—64; V. Bland 33, 29 TOY SCOUTS The Alangaweka Bov Scouts’ troop celebrated their first birthday on Friday, December 1, when the Metropolitan Commissioner (Mr Christie) and the District. Commissioner (Mr Woollams) and other members of the Wanganui troops were present. Almost a full muster of lo»cal Scouts were present. Girl Guides and parents were invited to attend tea in the Scout Hall and these turned out in full force, accompanied by the District Commissioner (Afrs T. Pairman). During the evening, Air Christie presented the Scoutmaster warrant to Mr Burgin, nd tho Assistant-Scout-master warrant to Mr W. Caiman. Air Christie cut the birthday cake and spoke to the gathering on Scout matters. Games were indulged in during the evening and a very pleasant and entertaining time was spent. GENERAL WOOL ON THE MOVE. During tho past week wool has been on the move from sheds to rail in very . large, quantities. The upward trend in prices has caused a great exodus from all sheds and the railway and motor-lorry transport are having a very busy imo coping with the rush. FAT LAAfBS. The first drafts of fat lambs to leave the district, have been coming forward during the past week. The percentages of lambs have been very good this season and a record output is expected from the district.
