The middleweight professional boxing championship was won by Harry Lister (Greymouth) in a fast strenuous fifteen rounds with Vince Parker (Thnaru). Both weighed 11.51. Lister secured a knock-out in the final round. The bout was very even until thea. Parker was the faster but lister the more aggressive and the harder hitter. The largo house cheered the boxers repeatedly for their excellent shewing.
