HERD TESTING Increasingly larger number of herds ere being tested by the Pa tea Herd 'resting Association, as the figures for the month of November show:— Monthly Group Average.

BOWLING In a match fur the Gibson Banner at Patea between Patea (defenders) and Waverley (challengers), Patea again proved the victors. Following are the results, Patea names being mentioned first; —Wainwright, Logie, Sumich, Scown 21 v. Foley, Jeffries, Aiken. Watkins 18. Reference was made to the sad bereavement suffered by one of the Patea Club’s most prominent members, Air. A. T. Christensen, and he wished to convey to Air. Christensen his fellowbowlers’ deep sympathy. As bowlers, they shared each other’s sorrows and each other’s joys. As a mark of respect for the late Airs. Christensen, members stood for a few moments in silence. HOSPITAL WIRELESS Final arrangements have been made with Afr. Davey for the installation of Atwater Kent radio sets in the hospital. The installation includes 24 pillow phones, and five loud-speakers in tho hospital, and two loud-speakers in the Nurses’ Home. I BROWNIES’ TEA PARTY Following the custom of other years, the Brownies attached to the Patea Girl Guides Company, held their Christmas party for their mothers. There was a splendid attendance of mothers, committee members and officers, v. ho with tho courteous and cheery youngsters spent a happy time. Captain Mrs. Prescott, of the Patea Girl Guides, was present, and as part of the afternoon’s programme, performed an important little ceremony, enrolling several Brownies, and presenting badges and service stars to others. Afternoon tea was served and thoroughly enjoyed by tho Brownies and their visitors, after which each Brownie presented her mother with a Christmas gjft, and gifts were also provided for officers, Brown Owl Aliss Marian Hamerton, Tawny Owl, Afiss Kiihfuss and Pack Leader Afiss V. Hunger. Three little Brownies enacted a play entitled “A Baby New A’ear,’’ those taking part being Alma Lord (1933), Francis Jones (1934), and Gwen Bond (Father Christmas). From the latter’s large bag, a gift was distributed to each Brownie.

Following tho afternoon tea, the Brownies and their officers visited the hospital, and distributed gifts to the children inmates.
