FEDERAL POLITICS
POSITION AT CANBERRA THREAT TO GOVERNMENT ADVERSE PARTY BLOC (By Telegraph—Prese Association—Copyright) SYDNEY, Oct. 12. The Sydney Morning Herald’s Canlira correspondent says that a serious situation has developed in the Federal Parliament. It was learned that the Country Party intended to insist upon an amendment of the Bill to give further concessions to old-age pen sioners, and that it would receive sup port not only from the Federal Labour Party and the Beasley group, but from the Government’s own supporters who wore prepared to vote against the Ministry unless some compromise were effected. This is likely, but the Government regards the matter as vital, and, if defeated, would seek dissolution.
