GOVERNMENT OFFERS REWARD. Received Oct. 13, 5.15 p.m. SYDNEY. Oct. 12. The Government is offering £2OO reward for information loading to the arrest and conviction of the murderer of the bookmaker Keane. A mysterious crime was committed early in the morning of September 29. The body of John Stanilaus Keane, aged 37, a bookmaker, with three bullet wounds in the head and neck was found near a pavement at Mascot. The police are of opinion that Keane was the victim of a gangster outrage. Apparently his murderers “took him for a ride, n shot him at close range, as witness the powder marks nn his face, and dumped the body where it. was found. Two shillings were found in the pockets. The victim lived at Undcrcliffe. a suburb four miles distant.
