BULB AND FLOWER SHOW. Th© Bulls Presbyterian Church will hold a Bulb and Flower Show’ in the Town Hall on Afonday next, and the greatest interest is being taken in the function. In addition to the section. 1 - for bulbs and flowers, there will be sections for cooking, vegetables, fancy work, and novelties, and garments made by members of the Women’s Institute. Stalls will offer for sale fancy goods, sweets, produce, cakes, plants and floxvers, and afternoon tea will be provided for 6d. In the evening there will be games and musical items. Schedules may lie obtained from tho hon. secretary, Air. A. C. Lane, Bulls. WOMEN’S INSTITUTE. On Tuesday evening the Women’s Institute held a “men’s night’’ in the Town Hall, and the gathering drew a very large crowd, and was a great success. The entertainment included playettes, dancing in the main hall, and cards in the supper room. Over 60 sat down to euchre, and most games were won by Airs. Harry Ellery (Ohakea) and Mr. F. F. Rall’c.* In the dance hall a statue dance was won by Airs. Abraham and Air. D. O’Connell; a Monte Carlo by Aliss I. Ford and Air. Ken Field; and a spot waltz by Aliss Dixon and Air. Edgar Ingram. Airs. Abraham contributed songs, and dance extras were played by Aliss Kearney. A sumptuous supper was provided, and the gathering did not break up until tho early hours of the morning.

CLYDESDALE SCHOOL BALL. The Clydesdale annual school fancy dress ball proved a great attraction on Friday evening, tho Carnarvon Hall (which was gaily decorated for the occasion) being filled to overflowing. For some weeks the teacher (Aliss Flavell) and Alcsdames P. Scott and P. R. Teague, had been training the little ones, and their deportment on the dance floor reflected great credit on their tutors. Mr. and Airs. C. C. Price (Bulls) judged the costumes for special prizes, and their task was no easy one. so well were the children arrayed. Prizes were awarded as follows:—Tiny Tots (boy), Evan Armitage, Little Bov Blue; (girl), Patricia ’ uxford, Spanish Dancer. Alost original (bov), Maureen Zion, Rooster; (girl), Dulcie Zion, Doll. Historical impersonation (boy), Vernon AlcKcnzie, Crusader; (girl), Joyce Pedersen, Duchess of Devonshire. Most humorous (boy), John Luxford, Land of the Free; (girl), Alary Powell, Grandmother. Best Poster (boy), Alan Luxford. Stone Ginger Wine; (girl), Joan Gennils, East Moro Fruit. Afost economical (boy), John AfcTavish, Tui Calf Meal; (girl), Kathleen Alaxwoll, Hawaiian. Best pair, Alary and Ken Powell, Grandma and Grandpa. PERSONALS. Airs. W. Haycock, who underwent a serious operation in Wanganui Hospital early this week, is reported to be in a fairly critical state at present. The many friends of Air. J. F. McKelvie, of ‘Carnarvon, will regret to hear that he has had to re-enter a Wellington private hospital for further treatment. Air. Joseph Weightman, of Feilding, xvho died a few days ago, w s well known and greatly esteemed in Lower Rangitikei, and a daughter, Mrs. W. J. Frecklington, lives at Carnarvon. RANGITIKEI LADIES’ GOLF CLUB. To day is closing day. and after Canadian foursomes are played, the presentation of trophii s won during the season will be made. The season has been an exceptionally good one, mid the standard of play improved. Interest in the game has hcen well sustained, and most lady golfers will put their clubs aside with feelings of regret.
