SCHOOL FOOTBALL TOURNEY RANGITIKEI DEFEAT HUTT In the second round of the quadrangular schools’ tournament at Levin on Monday, Rangitikei 9, defeated Hutt 3, while Taranaki and. Horowhenua drew, neither side scoring. Rangitikei v. Hutt Hutt Valley. Alarshall, Cook, Beban, Bold, Pelham, Perrett, Clemens, Hey, Whiteman, Fahey, Barrett, Williams, Jonasscn, Stewart, Battersby. Rangitikei. —• Upchurtrh, 'Brown, Little, Reynolds, Twigg, O’Brien, McCullough, Duncan, Dashwoud, Slade, AlcCaul, Wham, Gilliard, AlcLean, Gibbons. Hutt kicked off against the wind on heavy ground after rain. Brown returned a long kick and Perritt receiving, passed to Pelham, Beban, Bold, and Cook, who was pushed out on Rangitikei.’s twenty-five line. Rucking play followed for ten minutes, with a number of exchange ki‘cks. At this stage a good passing rush ended with Twigg scoring, but Gibbous failed to convert. —Rangitikei 3, Hutt

Following tho kick-off, Clemens picked up smartly and found the line at. half-way. Alany scrums followed with Rangitikei predominating. Reynolds made a good run down tho side line, but was grassed by Cook and a serum followed on tho twenty-live. Weak tackling by Pelham let AlcCullough over. McCullough failed to convert. The Valley forwards were doing good workj but the backs failed to use tho opportunities given them. Rangitikei swept down again for AlcCullough to score in a handy position. AlcCullough failed to convert. —Rangitikei 9, Hutt 0. Up-and-dowu play followed and Perritt received and made a crafty ruu, but was not backed up. Alarshall was very safe at full-back at this stage. Half-time then sounded. Valley attacked with renewed vigour, Whiteman outstanding. Alany opportunities were received but lack of finish spoilt good chances on both sides. Rangitikei forwards were very good in defence. At length, Jonassen dived across for Hutt’s only try. Cook failed to convert. Rangitikei 9, Hutt 3. Hutt again attacked, but Hey got offside and Rangitikei cleared to halfway. McCaul and AkLean played solid football for Rangitikei. Alarshall received from a grubber kick and dodged his way downfield, then gaming 40 yards with a good kick. Bcbau made many good efforts but tho defence hold. The game ended with no further score—Rangitikei 9, Hutt \ alley 3. On the day’s play. Rangitikei were the better side, though the Hutt forwards looked like dribbling across on several occasions in the second half. After the first ten minutes, steady rain fell throughout tho game. The Rangitikei boys arc having a royal time in Levin and on Sunday afternoon, with the boys, were taken for a motor trip to Otaki, where the To Raupnraka monument and Alaori ChuiVh were inspected, Mr Tahuri explaining points of interest. Position of Teams. Up to the present Horowhenua. and Taranaki are leading with one win and one draw modi. Rangitikei have had one win ami one loss, while Hutt. Valley have lost two games. To-day Rangitikei meet Taranaki and Herowhenua play Hutt. Valley, which leaves the final result very open.
