R.S.A. A meeting of the Mangawcka bran'ch of the Returned Soldiers’ Association was held in the Seddon Memorial Room on Tuesday evening. Air H. Johnston presided over tho following members: Messrs H. Reiley, I. Kirkby (secretary), P. Reiley, M. Ginnane, W. Caiman, L. Sweet, H. Westwood, E. E. Aloore, and J. F. Johnsen. The following new members were elected: Alessrs Af. Sutherland, J. Robb, C. Furber, G. Green. 11. Nash, H. Moyle, L. A. Bailey, G. Bramley, P. Furber, 8. Loye, C. Dalgety, W. Brewer and J. W. Byrne. It was decided to hold a dance in aid of tli£ Plunkct Society (Mangawcka branch), on Friday, September 1. The Melody Boys’ Orchestra is to be engaged and the social committee are to take in hand, immediately, all other business in Connection with the function. PERSONAL Afr and Airs Roy Carter and family have returned from a holiday spent at Castlecliff, Wanganui. Afr Al. Jamieson, of th c local railway staff, has been transferred to Ohingaiti. liss gave the ball to Chase, who again got over, but his kick was a failure. The score now stood at Taihape 21, Ruapehu 16. Just on the call of time a penalty was given Ruapehu, but Clemett failed to put the ball over and the whistle went without further score. Afr. H. Green made an efficient referee. Rangataua v. Ohakune. A match between tho Rangataua juniors and Ohakun e juniors was played on the showgrounds as a curtain-raiser to the representative game. For Rangataua scores were obtained by Whale, E. Reynolds, J. Reynolds, A. Reynolds, making the total 17, while for Ohakune' Ranger got a try which Tho: ins converted, leaving Rangataua winners by 12 points. Afr. R. Afildren acted as referee. SOCIAL. The visitors were entertained in the Druids’ Hall in the evening. Mr. D. R. Ingram, president of thc Ruapehu subunion, being in the. chair. A number of toasts were duly honoured and items given by several member u of both teams and others.
