LONDON MARKET CLOSES FIRM CHEESE PRICES STEADY There was a definite improvement last week in the London butter market, which, closed firni on Friday. The piice of New Zealand salted butter advanced by 4s to 5s a cwt., to 82s to 84s, deliveries lor the week being 2400 tons, compared with 2050 tons foi the previous week. Thu quantity of New Zealand butter in store at the end of last, week was 9800 tons, compared with. 5026 tons a year ago. Tiie Empire Marketing Board’s estimate of tne stocks of all butters is 1,307,293 boxes, compared with 876,218 boxes a year ago. Turnbull and Co., Ltd., have received the following cabled advice from their principals, VV. vV'cddcl and Co., Ltd., London, dated July .28;— Danish butter, 98s to 100 s; New Zealand, finest, 82s to 84s; Kangaroo, 81s to 83s; New Zealand, white, 495; Now Zealand, coloured, 51s to 525. Markets steady. Mr. Thomas Gray has received the following cablegram from his principal, Mr. A. C. Rowsou, dated London, July 28: Cheese: White, SOs -pur cwt.; coloured, 52s per cwt. The demand is slow and the market firm with hardening tendency. Butter; First grade, 83s to 83s 6d per cwt.; finest, 84s per cwt. Tho demand is good and the market firm with hardening tendency.
