LOSS IN A CHANNEL. [ Per Frew Association. J AUCKLAND, July 31. A large launch, the Wharekawa, foundered in Rangitoto Channel last night while being towed from Kawau Island. The Wharekawa set out towing a barge but, owing to engine trouble, another launch was despatched to tow both the Wharekawa anil barge. Tho Wharekawa broke away and when ftn effort was being made to recover it, it crashed against the barge and instantly sank. Fortunately, its occupants had previously clambered on board the barge.
