FOOTBALLERS’ BALL. A BRILLIANT FUNCTION. “ Better, if possible, than last year,” was the opinion of all who attended the annual ball held by the Ohingaiti Foot ball Club m the Town Hall, Ohingaiti, on Friday last, July 28. A crowd which taxed the accommodation, of the hall enjoyed to the lull a varied programme of old-time and modern dancing to music of a very high quality played by ihe River City Syncop:\tors whoso ren dering of modern and lung-known air.-, made dancing a delightful pleasuie. \ cry Jew wanted to go home even at 3 a.m. and the number who joined in the singing of Auld Lang Sync at. the conclusion tcstilied to the excellent fare provided. As usual, the supper was notable for its lavishness. A very cap able committee of ladies did all that was required to prepare, set uut and serve a tasteful and bountiful supper and the, extra accommodation obtained by placing additional tables on the stage assisted in the serving of the large number present. Very favourable comment was made regarding the tastofulncss of the decorations which were On a style not previously seen in Ohingaiti and which reflect great credit on those icsponsible. * Thy competition for boxes of choco lates, conducted prior to the bail, was won by Airs. H. Nicol, Alartun, the second prize going to Airs. N. Signa-, Ohingaiti. The committee are greativ indebted to a large number of friends and supporters for donations aac assistance, among whom are Alcssrs. W Watson Ltd., O’Briens Ltd (Hunterville), Taylors Ltd (Hunterville), 1). Lindsay and Air. J. B. AlcKnight, with whoso co-operation and assistance the club were able to use coloured lights for the, decorations. Pritchard, and to all supporters who assisted in any way to make this year's function so successful. Alusic wor extra dances was supplied by Alcsdamcs Trcvena and Wcrcta and Air. A. Linton acted as Al. ’sC. and kept things moving from the commencement of the grand march, led by vice-president and Airs. R. A. Gower, until the end of a very pleasant function.
