MESSAGES OF SYMPATHY THE INJURED RECOVERING [ Per Trebs Association. 1 WAIHI, July 31. In connection with Wednesday’s remarkable accident at. the Waihi Gold Mining Co.’s mine, when a cage containing twelve men broke away.falling several hundred feet without anybody being killed, the Mayor has received a message from the Gover-nor-General: “Please convey to those injured by the serious accident, at the Waihi mine shaft the deep sympathy of Lady Bledisloe and myself, our warm congratulations on their escape I from death, and our earnest hopes for a speedy recovery.” The London board of directors cabled: “Please convey the sympathy of the board to all concerned and our hope that the injured are making good progress.” The secretary of the Waihi Minors' Union received messages of sympathy from Messrs. P. Fraser (president of the national executive). and Jas, Thorn (secretary of the New Zealand Labour I Party). The local churches held special ser- -. vices yesterday. | All of the injured are progressing satisfactorily
