OBITUARY
LATE MR. H. C. McCREADY The rapidly-thinning ranks of New Zealand’s early colonials were further depleted by the death on Friday at his home in Collingwood Street, Hamilton, of Mr. Hugh Clyde McCready, at the age of 80 years. Born in Larne, Belfast, Northern Ireland, the late Mr. McCready came to New Zealand 50 years ago. He he started in business at Whangarei and was the first tailor in that centre. Until his retirement about 15 years ago Mr. McCready was connected with various clothing firms in Auckland. He went to Hamilton to live about six months ago. The late Mr. McCready married Agnes, daughter of the Rev. S. Buchanan, late of Frankton, at Whangarei. He was a staunch Mason all his life, having joined the Cairn Castle Masonic Lodge in Belfast as long ago as 18"9. Mr. McCready was also the founder of the movement which culminated in the establishment of the Auckland Unitarian Church, the first religious body of its kind in the Dominion. Until the end he had always enjoyed the best of health. He is survived by his wife, a daughter, and four sons, Mrs. A. Graham (Tokatoka, North Auckland), Messrs. H. T. 8. McCready (Wanganui). J. C. McCready (Hamilton), M. N. McCready (Sydney), and H. C. McCready (Dargaville). There are 14 grandchildren.
