MAJESTIC THEATRE

‘ A BEDTIME STORY.’’ The popular Parisian actor, Afaurice Chevalier, has previously been, seen mainly in sophisticated musi'cal comedies, but although his latest picture, “A Bedtime Story,” showing finally to-day at the Majestic Theatre, has a Parisian flavouring to the extent that the action takes place in tho gay French capital, his role is in many respects a new one for him. His engaging personality, however, has probably never been seen to better advantage, and he is always in sympathy with his audience, which he keeps (constantly amused. Chevalier plays the part of Count Rene, a wealthy Frenchman who has a baby left in the tonneau of his rpotor-car and undertakes its upbringing. Complications naturally ensue when Rene’s friends learn of sieur the Baby,” and an additional development concerns the arrival of Sally (Helen Twelvetrees). a pretty American girl, to act as the baby’s nurse. Rene’s calculations that his fiancee will also fall in love with the child are sadly astray, and it is left to Sally into the breach. There is an excellent mixture of humour and human sympathv in the story, with the players working in happy concord to make an exceptionally entertaining picture. “Robbers’ Roost.’’ Based on one of the many Incidents (hat have coloured Arizona’s history. “Robber’s Roost,” the new Fox Films offering, comes to the Afajestic Theatre to-morrow. George O’Brien and Afaureen O’Sullivan head tho cast of the picture, taken from Zane Grey’s story, and with its picturesque settings at. tho original locale of the episode. “Robbers’ Roost” is said to Im O’Brien’s outstanding screen play. Tho wholesale plundering of the cattle on a big ranch in the southern part, ot the State some twenty years ago form's tho historical basis of the tale. The ranch .qwner, a wealthy Briton, is careloss enough to hire a rascally foreman to run the place for him. and the foreman drives the entire herd over tho line into Mexico, sells them and vanishes with the proceeds
